Persepsi Mahasiswa Sebagai Kalangan Milenial Terhadap Penyakit Kaki Gajah / Filariasis

Filariasis is a helminthic disease that is transmitted through mosquitoes as vectors of Fillaria worms and causes disruption of the lymph nodes, resulting in disability and a negative stigma for sufferers and their families so that its spread needs to be stopped. Efforts to spread filariasis can be stopped by knowing the perceptions of millennial students as reliable informants regarding the spread of filariasis and preventive measures for this disease. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with millennial students' perceptions of filariasis as an effort to prevent the spread of the disease. This study uses a quantitative analytical study design with a cross sectional approach and data analysis using Chi Square test. The respondents who involved in this study were students between ages of 18 until 24 who studying in some universities in Indonesia. The results showed that there was no relationship between gender and age with students’ perceptions of filariasis as well as perceptions of vulnerability, seriousness, benefits and barriers indicated by the P value more than 0.05. The level of knowledge known have relationship on perception of vulnerability indicated by the P value less than 0.05, however there was no relationship between level of knowledge on perception of seriousness, benefits, and barriers indicated by the P value more than 0.05.
