Ectoparasites are parasites that live on the outer surface of the host’s body. High demand
for beef request in society encourages beef cattle farmers to increase productivity.
Ectoparasites found in livestock such as cattle can reduce cow productivity. This study aims
to analyze knowledge of breeders, workers, and owners of slaughterhouses (RPH) and also
their perception. The respondents were selected using purposive sampling technique with a
total of 47 people consisting of cattle breeders, worers, and slaughterhouses managers. The
variables observed included the characteristic, knowledge, and perceptions of respondents
which consisted in two (2) indicators, namely health management and hygiene management.
The collected data were analyzed using the t and spearman correalation, criterion scale, and
cut of point. Analysis of respondents’ data shows positive trends on both indicators of
perception. Respondents’ perceptions of health and hygiene management showed a very
good level with an average percentage of 87.4% and 91.1%, respectively. There is a very
strong correlation between respondents’ perceptions on both indicators with a correlation
coefficient of 0.79. Respondents’ knowledge of ectoparasites is in the medium category with
an average percentage of 54.25%. Respondents’ perceptions on both indicators showed a
positive correlation with t value = 8.55 while between respondents’ perceptions of health
and hygiene management and knowledge levels were both negatively correlated with t values
of -6.23 and -2.26 at 95% significance level.
