Blood is an important component in the body that carries nutrients and oxygen to all organs of the body, including vital organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs, and liver. If there is a lack of blood in the body, the nutritional and oxygen needs of these organs cannot be met and tissue damage can occur quickly which can lead to death. Blood is a very basic and important thing in human life, because it is hereditary from parental inheritance. Blood transfusion is the process of transferring blood from a donor to a sick/needed person (recipient). Blood type is very important at the time of blood transfusion, a person must receive blood from the same blood group as the donor. This study aims to determine the variation in the frequency of the ABO and Rh system blood group phenotypes at PMI Padang City in January-June 2020 and is useful to be able to provide information to the public about common and rare groups and rhesus donated in Padang City. This research is descriptive research. The data obtained is secondary data obtained from PMI Padang City. The results showed that the blood that was commonly donated in January-June 2020 was type O rhesus positive blood with a percentage of 34.58% of 13251 donors, while blood type AB rhesus negative was the blood group that was the least donated with a percentage of 0.05%.
