Etnobotani Upacara Adat Batagak Kudo-Kudo Di Kecamatan Sungai Geringging Kabupaten Padang Pariaman

The traditional use of plants by the ethnic groups in Indonesia is still unknown. The people in Nagari Sungai Sirah Kuranji Hulu still use plants in the traditional house construction ceremony procession, namely the Batagak kudo-kudo traditional ceremony. This study aims to determine the types of plants used, how to use and the meaning of the plants used in the traditional Batagak kudo-kudo ceremony in Nagari Sungai Sirah Kuranji Hulu, Sungai Geringging District, Padang Pariaman Regency. This research is a descriptive study, using purposive sampling method with oral interview techniques using written guides. Respondents who were interviewed were 3 datuk, 1 village shaman, 3 masons and 6 community members aged 35-75 years. Based on the research results, 11 species of plants in 8 families were used in the Batagak kudo-kudo traditional ceremony. There are ways to use plants in traditional ceremonies that are used directly and some are processed. In the traditional Batagak kudo-kudo ceremony, 9 species are used directly and 2 species are processed. The meaning of the use of plants in traditional house building ceremonies there are 3, namely the meaning of social relationships, aesthetics and family and prayer. The meaning of social relations of 1 species, aesthetics and family of 1 species and prayer of 9 species.
