Azolla (Azolla pinnata R. Br), one of plants of the Azollaceae family that able to symbiosis with cyanobacteria so that Anabaena azollae is known. Azolla is often considered a weed that grows in rice fields, this plant has an important role in various fields (ex. Plant fertilizers, poultry feed, and as a mixture for making bread). IP2TP Kayuagung has utilized azolla as additional nutrition in KUB chicken feed. Therefore, it is necessary to follow up and explore more to conserve azolla, including knowing what media is suitable as a growing medium for azolla in cultivation activities by reducing costs as best as possible. The aim of this trial are to determine the effective growth media for cultivating azolla through experimental methods with growing media in the form of a mixture of water and manure, water and EM4, and water with Gandasil D fertilizer. The parameters observed were leaf color morphology and color of the roots, as well as the fresh weight of azolla. The results showed that a mixture of water and manure was the most effective growing medium that produced fresh freen azolla and the highest wet weight was 59.75 grams/tray.
