Bird diversity has an important function for the ecology, socioeconomic and culture of the community. Birds are often kept as pets because they have a melodious chirping sound, one of which is the stone magpie (Copychus malabaricus), therefore many bird stalls have been found that trade in birds, resulting in some of the bird species being threatened with extinction. The purpose of this study was to determine the trade in stone magpie birds in the city of Padang. The research method was carried out by means of a direct survey to the field and through interviews. The results obtained indicate that from 5 stalls there are 29 stone magpie birds that will be traded with a price range of Rp. 1,000,000-7,000,000. Most traders buy birds caught in the forest from sellers who do not have a bird-catching permit.
