Birds are animals that can be found in all types of habitats. The mobility of birds has a very wide range, this range makes it easier for birds to move places, causing birds to be in all types of habitats. The diversity of plant species in an area is also useful as a food source, shelter, resting place and as a place to nest or breed various types of birds. This study aimed to determine the diversity of birds that use Ficus benjamina around the MIPA faculty, Padang State University. This research was conducted in November 2021 around the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padang State University. Observations were made using the Concentration count method starting at 08.00 WIB until 09.00 WIB. Based on observations on the Ficus benjamina tree, there were 4 species bird found in Benjamina, namely Passer montanus, Lonchura punctulata, Pycnonotus goiavier, Pycnonotus eutilotus which were dominated by the Estrildidae and Passeridae tribes. The results of the calculation of the index of bird species diversity in the Ficus benjamina tree is low, namely it was 1.143024 indicated low category. On tree canopy abservations, all layers of the canopy are used by birds for activities. the middle canopy is the canopy layer that has a higher activity (eating and speaking) while social activities are mostly carried out in the lower canopy and the middle canopy and resting activities are mostly used in the upper canopy.
