Abstract

The sustainability of the forest in Bukit Kangin is a success in traditional forest management based on local wisdom. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential that exists in the Bukit Kangin forest in the prospect of developing forest tourism objects as a result of ethnoecological studies. The population of this study is divided: the ecosystem aspect and the socio-system aspect. The population of the ecosystem aspect is in the form of all plant species in Bukit Kangin, while the population of the socio-system aspect is the entire community of the Tenganan Pegringsingan village. The sample of this study from the ecosystem aspect includes plant species covered by a square. The number of squares is 65 squares. For the community sample, community components are selected with a total sample of 50 people. The collection of ecosystem data is using the quadratic method with systematic sampling technique. Meanwhile, the socio-system data collection is carried out by interview methods, observation sheets, and questionnaires. Analysis of data related to ecosystem data used ecological statistical analysis, and sociosystem descriptively. The results showed (1) The forest in Bukit Kangin, has the potential to be developed into a forest tourism object as an alternative, creative and complementary tourism object from existing tourism objects. (2) Some of the potentials that can be developed as forest tourism objects are in the form of plant species composition that has been equipped with descriptions, uses, processing methods and products of useful plant species based on local wisdom, mapping of vegetation, plant species with body symbols, conservation patterns based on regulations (awig-awig) which reflects local wisdom and respect for religious principles and myths, (3) the availability of a handbook for the introduction of plants.
